The sticker is the gift, and the story lives in it. Instant Gift is optional: it sends the story ahead by email, for listening before the sticker arrives.
Anyone with the sticker can already play the story. Instant Gift is for when the occasion comes before the sticker can get there: a birthday tomorrow, a shower this weekend. It emails the story link right away, or on a day you pick, and the physical sticker follows however you are actually getting it there.
Sending it now
Once a recording is saved, open the sticker in My Recordings and choose “Send as a gift.” Add the recipient’s email address, an optional “from” name, and an optional short note that appears above the button in their email. Choose “Right now” and it goes out the moment you send it.
Scheduling it for a certain day
Choose “On a certain day” instead, and pick a date up to a year out. That morning, the email goes out and the story opens on its own. Your recording is saved and safe the entire time; scheduling only delays when it is shown, never anything about the recording itself.
How the sticker gets there
You also say how the physical sticker is arriving, and that sentence appears in the recipient’s email so they know what to expect:
- By mail, the classic way: put it inside the front cover of the book once it arrives.
- Handed to them in person.
- Already tucked inside a book they are getting.
- Something else, in your own words.
The still-wrapped waiting screen
If someone opens the link before the day you chose, the page tells them plainly that the story is still wrapped, names who it is from, and says when it opens. Nothing looks broken and there is no countdown clock, just an honest “come back on the day.” Your note, if you added one, shows there too.
Opening it early
Changed your mind about waiting? Open “Gift settings” on the sticker in My Recordings, or the gift link itself, and tap “Open it now instead.” It opens with one tap and no confirmation, because opening a gift early can never lose anything.
The printable keepsake card
Want something physical to hand over before the sticker arrives? Print a keepsake card from the gift screen the same day. It is one clean sheet of ordinary paper, no folding: the occasion art, the listener’s name, the same QR code as the sticker, the words, and your note. Whether someone scans the printed card or the sticker itself, it opens the same story.
