Making a recording

You don’t have to produce anything. A child hearing your voice read a book is the whole point, stumbles and all. Read it the way you’d read it if nobody was listening. Or do it while you’re actually reading to them, with page turns and giggles in the background. That’s the best audio.

A Lullavo recording has three sections, all optional: a short intro, the book reading, and a closing note. Use any combination. You can redo any section before you save.

Getting to the recorder

  • Activate the sticker at lullavo.com/start if you haven’t already.
  • Open the email we just sent and tap Start recording.
  • That’s the recorder.

The three sections

  • Intro. A sentence before you start. “Hi Maya, it’s Grandpa. I thought you’d like this one.”
  • Book reading. The story. Your pace, your voice.
  • Closing. A sign-off. “Love you.”

Skip any of them. Lots of people just hit record and read.

If you want a few tips

  • Somewhere quiet-ish is nice, but a normal room is fine.
  • Hold the phone a hand’s width from your mouth.
  • Read to the child, not at the book. Funny voices welcome.
  • Stumbles are fine. Really. Leave them in.

Length

Up to 15 minutes total across all sections.

Saving

Press Save recording, stay on the page until you see the confirmation. That’s it!

After saving: the 7-day window

You have 7 days from your first save to re-record if you change your mind. See Re-recording before it seals.
